Connectivist Reflection
Right now my network is primarily centered around instructional design. This is the platform from which I seek to absorb knowledge from my school Walden University and most recently from other bloggers. There is a wealth of knowledge to be gained from the journey of others and this is what I am learning as I read through the bloggs that I find online pertaining to instructional design. The creative ways in which theory is being applied  is all very eye opening as my network expands to include my school and fellow bloggers. A source of information for me that is part of my network but not displayed in my mind map are search engines such as google, bing , and others. These are the starting places for my questions they often provide both timely and accurate information that I can use for deeper and more in depth research.

Hi folks by clicking on the above link it will allow you to see my very very simple mind map. I tried to export the image so all you seen was the map but of course media is never that easy for me any way.

The brain and learning- I did not pursue this topic because all the resources available except for one, the guardian, advocated brain based learning. It is already a discovered fact that teaching to the brain functions does not work because we as human beings use the entire network of neurons to think and to function.

Information Processing Theoryexpertlearners.com/el.php This site is dedicated to becoming an expert learner. They give you suggestions of how to take notes ans organize your notes in order to retain and retrieve information from long-term memory. This application is based on the theory espoused by Schunk and offers ideas about what we can do to learn more effectively.

Problem Solving Method During the Learning Process- education.com This site discusses in depth about the cognitive processes in play that produce effective learning. These processes include representing, planning, executing, and self regulation as oppose to the three step process we learned in class which include encoding, retrieval, and self regulation. We have discussed at length about the importance of self regulation's relationship to learning, but we have not discussed the other three found on this website namely constructing a representation of the problem, devising a plan for solving the problem, execution of the plan, and finally evaluating how the system worked.

Internet Resources

blog.learnlets.com , facdev.e-education.psu.edu/plan/resources, ryan2point0.wordpress/2010/02/09/theory-informed-design-tips/,  by Clark Quinn, Penn State, Ryan Tracey are excellent resources because they discuss the current theories prevailing today in terms of its applicability in everyday practice. One of the sites provided access to other links that gives a wealth of information pertaining to instructional design. The last site gives several examples of how to apply each of the theories we are learning about  and their meaning. These sights not only go in depth about l,earning theories they demonstrate their application.
